Isle of Man Airport, also known as Ronaldsway Airport and, in Manx, Purt Aer Vannin, is the main civilian airport on the Isle of Man.

The Airport is located in the south of the island at Ronaldsway near Castletown, 6 NM (11 km; 6.9 miles) southwest of Douglas the island's capital. Along with the Isle of Man Sea Terminal, it is one of the two main gateways to the island.

Weather

Our Manx Jet Centre Handling staff have access to European Charts, text forecasts, satellite images, rainfall Radar, TAF's, METARs and Aerodrome Colour States. We also have AFTN Telex for direct access to worldwide METAR and TAF databanks. We are in regular telephone and fax communication with the UK Meteorological Office.

We will also supply weather information obtainable from internet sources if required.

Noise Abatement Procedures

a. Pilots of aircraft using the airport shall ensure at all times that aircraft are operated in a manner calculated to cause the least disturbance practicable in areas surrounding the airport, particularly near Castletown and Ballasalla.

b. All propeller driven aircraft must climb straight ahead to 500 FT and must have passed the airport boundary before commencing any turn.

c. All jet aircraft must climb straight ahead to 1000 FT before commencing any turn.

d. All departing aircraft from Runway 26 shall track the extended centreline until a range of 3 NM or less from IOM DME before commencing any turn. Aircraft unable to receive DME shall climb straight ahead for 2 minutes from commencement of their take off run before commencing any turn. This procedure may only be departed from when authorised by ATC.

e. When approaching to land on any Runway all aircraft shall intercept the extended runway centreline at a minimum range of 2 NM and shall not descend below the PAPI indicated approach.

f. Any of these procedures may be departed from to the extent necessary for the avoidance of immediate danger.

Please ensure that all of your pilots are familiar with our Noise Abatement procedures which are in the IOM AIP. Please note that there is a mechanism in place to fine operators who breach our NPR.

Fire and Rescue Services

The Isle of Man’s Fire and Rescue service is fully approved by the CAA. Cover is provided by fully trained aviation fire-fighters supported by two appliances with media capability up to and including Fire Category 7 available on request.
